“A food safety management scheme is ‘recognized’ by GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) when it meets internationally recognized minimum food safety requirements, developed by multi stakeholders, which are set out in the GFSI Guidance Document. GFSI is not a scheme in itself, and neither does it carry out any accreditation or certification activities.”
A list of Stakeholders or Recognized Schemes including GLOBALG.A.P. and Primus GFS can be found on the GFSI website. A link for the Recognized Schemes can be found here:
Our program has been created to fulfill the requirements enforced by GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) and all of its underlying schemes. GFSI is recognized internationally. Instead of having schemes require conflicting standards, GFSI has enforced the same standards for each of the schemes. This way the grower does not face schemes that require standards that clash with a scheme’s standards which were initially used.
